Casio announced The Casio WSD-F20, also called the Pro Trek Smart Android wear. It is the successor to its WSD-F10 Android Wear smartwatch, pitched again as an outdoor watch.
The new smart watch is water resistance to 50 meters and is military certified 810G for ruggedness. It’s certainly more G-Shock than LG G Watch. The Casio WSD-F20 runs Android Wear 2.0, features a 1.32-inch dual-layer display with a (320 x 300) pixel resolution, has GPS built-in and it also supports offline mapping. It is definitely at the top of our list for its improved functionality and amazing battery life, not to mention it has a really stylish design. Misfit, a veteran in the wearable tech game, used CES 2017 to reveal its first touchscreen display smart watch – the Vapor. It comes with 1.39-inch circular OLED display with a 326 ppi pixel density.
Fossil acquired Misfit in 2015, the new device is the company's most advanced yet, offering the typical fitness and sleep tracking functionality, coupled with optical heart rate monitoring, built-in GPS, and standalone music functionality. The Misfit Vapor is water resistance up to 50 meters, has a 44mm stainless steel casing, Misfit is using its own OS in the Vapor with a Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor. It has a bezel-based control system that lets you browse watch faces, apps and respond to notifications. So it should be snappy enough.
The Vapor is set to cost at $199 but isn’t launching until later in 2017.
Garmin Fenix 5 series
Garmin’s Fenix series has been around for years and is for serious athletes looking to test their tech as much as they test themselves. The Fenix 5 series consists of 3 designs:
The 47mm Fenix 5 that offers 24 hours in GPS mode, a new design to make it more compact than previous models and it will be available in a variety of colors.
The 42mm Fenix 5S which is made for the female adventurers. And the 51mm Fenix 5X that comes with pre-loaded maps, has a sapphire lens and boasts Wi-Fi. The new trios are all waterproof to 100 meters and there’s a three-axis compass on board. They also have gyroscope and barometric altimeter, while GPS and GLONASS connectivity means accurate tracking won’t be an issue even in tough conditions.
All three will go on sale in Q1of 2017, costing from $500.
New Balance RunIQ
New Balance announced the RunIQ Android Wear smart watch at CES 2017.
The device is made in collaboration with Intel & offers a built-in GPS, real-time heart rate monitoring, a lap button, interval functionality and a 24-hour battery life, or 5-hours with continuous GPS and heart rate measuring.
The RunIQ smart watch enables runners to upload and share workouts with other runners in the community. It is waterproof up to 5 ATM, offers a 1.39-inch AMOLED display and a music player letting you pair Bluetooth buds directly to the watch. 4GB of storage which can be used to store tracks from Google Play Music.
The New Balance RunIQ, which has a price tag of $299 and will be available in February.
Armani Exchange, another Fossil brand comes on the wearable tech bandwagon at CES 2017.
It announced its first hybrid smart watch – the AX Connected. It will come in four colors: white, black, blue & orange.
The AX Connected has the functionality of the usual fitness and sleep tracker, and the capability of a smart watch. It will count steps, track sleep and provide smartphone notifications. It also has features to take selfies and control music playback from its paired smartphone. The small dial provides a progress gauge for your daily activity goal.
The Armani Exchange Connected will be available from February, but the price tag has yet to be revealed.
